Community Grants

Community Allocations Contact:
Carol Baker Raj

The CVWC Community Allocations Committee was created through the CVWC Foundation to provide insight and guidance into gifts made to non-profits each year. This includes local agencies that serve the Carmel Valley community, as well as scholarships for graduating high school girls, which has been the mainstay of the club’s altruistic activities since its inception.

When the committee was formed in 2014, it was decided that the CVWC membership should participate in the nomination of organizations that fall into those guidelines. Carol Baker Raj, has now taken over as Chair of the Allocations Committee because of her past experience as Development Director and Executive Director of other not-for-profit agencies. During the last 20 years that she worked in elder care, Carol served on several committees and boards of local organizations.

To date, CVWC has provided the following through its local fundraising events:

  • $25,000 in scholarships (15 total)
  • $8,000 distributed to 11 non-profit organizations
  • $2,000 contributed too the Community Relief Fund
During the fires in 2015, $1,000 of this fund was distributed to Cachagua Volunteer Firefighters Inc.

We welcome your suggestions for worthy nonprofit organizations to which we can give grants this coming year. Organizations or agencies that serve the entire Monterey Peninsula are eligible as long as their programs serve the Carmel Valley area as well.
